Nintendo has announced that Super Mario 64 is “a massive departure” from the classic NES game series, and it will launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
“Super Mario Odyssey takes you to a completely new, exciting, and different world, and the gameplay is the most exciting and innovative since Super Mario World.
Super Mario has been on the Switch for four years now, and we can’t wait to see what players can do with the console,” said Shigeru Miyamoto, president of Nintendo of America.
The game launches exclusively on Nintendo Switch and will be available on March 24, 2019.
The game is due out on March 23.
Mario has long been a fan favorite on Nintendo’s console, and this is just the latest example of how the game has matured.
He’s even become a playable character on the Wii U version of the game.
The Switch version of Super Mario Sunshine will also be released on March 3.
