Montreal, Que.
(AP) The Montreal Canadiens have officially announced the start of their second season under Claude Julien as head coach, the team announced on Thursday.
“This season will be the first time in the history of the Habs that we will be playing at the Olympic Stadium, with an NHL and the National Hockey League,” said Julien.
“We’re thrilled to be a part of this special moment in our history.”
The Canadiens won the first of their three Stanley Cups with the franchise in 1991 and again in 2004, the last time they made the playoffs.
They have won six Stanley Cups in a row since then.
“It’s the first step on the journey to becoming a Stanley Cup contender,” said Marlies captain and former NHL player Alexandre Daigle.
“This will be our first trip to the playoffs, so we want to give ourselves the best chance possible.”
The team will host the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday night in Montreal for their second game in two nights.
