A New York police officer is facing federal charges of attempting to use the word games in order to commit fraud, the Justice Department said Monday.
A civil lawsuit filed by the FBI accuses William T. Johnson of falsely claiming he was an expert in word games, according to a news release.
Johnson allegedly made false statements about his research and qualifications to gain access to and access to the computers of a person who had a legal right to use his information and documents, the DOJ said.
He allegedly created a false identification to gain a position as a lawyer with the city of Los Angeles, and falsely claimed he had received certification from a doctor as an expert to do a job for a company that did research on the word game.
Johnson has been suspended with pay from the LAPD and the department’s internal affairs division, according the release.
